Your Newborn's Sleep

  • Your newborn is placed on their back for all sleep times until their first birthday or when they are comfortable rolling both ways.
  • They are sleeping alone (that means no docking stations, bumpers, blankets, stuffed animals, etc.)
  • They are sleeping in their own space in a crib, bassinet or play yard
  • They are dressed in fitted sleep clothing and in a controlled environment (dark room, comfortable temperature)

Your Babe's Crib

  • Your crib or bassinet meets current safety standards
  • It has slats that are no more than 2 3/8 inches apart
  • Your crib has multiple mattress heights
  • You've registered your crib for safety alerts
  • Your crib mattress is firm and fits snug in the crib

Your Babe's Sleep Space

  • Sleep area is free of bumpers and any loose objects.
  • Sleep area should be firm and any sheets or pad covers should be firmly fitted
  • Any artwork should be safely secured to the wall. Never hang glass decor above sleep areas.
  • All cords should be completely inaccessible from the crib.
  • Sleep area is set up away from windows, curtains, and canopies.
