Sarah Chase Hays knows that a beautiful home has to work for real family life. As an entrepreneur, angel investor, and soon-to-be parent of three, she brings an elevated yet approachable perspective to creating spaces that grow right alongside the people who live in them.


As her family prepares for its newest arrival, Sarah is making room for what’s next with a home that balances beautiful design, everyday function, and plenty of personality.

Tell us about your family and the season of parenthood you’re in right now.

We are in the best season ever. We are about to be a family of five. There’s my husband, myself, my son, who’s four and a half, my daughter, who just turned two, and we have a baby boy on the way, coming any day now.

Life is obviously a little crazy and a little chaotic, but more than anything, it’s so fun. For me, it’s truly an absolute dream.

I have so many friends who are older and have older kids, and they always remind me, “These are the years. These are the best years of your life.” I truly feel that.

It can be a completely ordinary Saturday, and the house is loud. They’re dancing, singing and laughing. I get a little emotional because I’m almost nostalgic for the moment I’m currently living in. There’s no greater blessing than that.

Preparing for baby number three, what do you understand more clearly now about what you and your family need from a nursery?

Now that I’m on baby number three, my biggest philosophy is that less is more.

With my first two kids, I bought everything under the sun—every gadget, gizmo and furniture piece—and the room was a mess. I’ve learned that less is more. There are a few key pieces that you absolutely need to get you through the baby phase.

Thanks to brands like Babyletto, it’s super seamless. You go on the website, buy everything you need and then it’s fun from there. It becomes about adding personality and identity to the room in a way that allows you and your family to truly experience the space and find a lot of joy during this first phase of the new baby’s life.

How do you imagine your family experiencing this room once the baby arrives?

I imagine us using this room for more than just my baby sleeping.

These are the moments when we’ll run in, cuddle on the ground, roll around, play and laugh. We’ll spend a lot of time in this chair reading and rocking the baby to sleep.

I’m sure my son, Roman, will come up here and practice giving the baby a bottle. In the mornings, I imagine my older kids running in and jumping into the crib with the baby.

I imagine using this room for all the little moments and memories we’ll create during the first few months.

Tell us about your vision for the room and your experience working with Studio Keeta.

For this room, I really wanted a cloudscape vignette and contrasting red trim. That’s what I came to STUDIO KEETA with.

As with anything they do—and any type of vision I give them—they elevate it, refine it and execute it to a degree that I could never achieve on my own.

Their creative partnership over the years has been such a blessing for me. I usually have an idea and very strong taste, but their ability to bring it to life and make it timeless is something I truly could not do on my own.

What feeling did you want to create in the room?

With my kids’ rooms, I always want them to feel fun, spark joy and ultimately be incredibly memorable.

I want my children to grow up, close their eyes and viscerally remember the way the room looked and how it made them feel. That paired with my deep understanding of their personality, we come to these super cool, funky room that just make our house a home.
